Odysee
Odysee is a new streaming service that aims to provide an alternative to both YouTube and Twitch with
a brand new site — and it’s powered entirely by cryptocurrency.
When it comes to online streaming, Twitch and YouTube are of course the biggest names in the game. . But they’re not the only ones.
One of the newest streaming sites is Odysee, which launched in late 2020. Unlike Twitch or YouTube, they aim to use cryptocurrency to change
the design of the typical video/streaming site.
What is LBRY?
Odysee uses the LBRY cryptocurrency for everything from tipping creators to the ability to stream yourself.
The LBRY cryptocurrency is what makes things work on Odysee. Users can earn points simply by signing up, performing other tasks, and clicking around the site, but you’ll need a certain amount to start streaming.
If you don’t want to stream, you can still use LBRY to tip creators, claim your username, or even cash out your earnings — as long as it’s enough.

According to the creators, LBRY, and therefore Odysee, were designed specifically as an alternative to YouTube and Twitch. As we’ve seen in recent months, these sites can remove creators’ promotional content at will.
The LBRY protocol aims to be an alternative to these sites, as the protocol’s official website states. “Allowing publishers and their fans to interact directly without the risk of negative incentives or other interference.”
How to get started with Odysee
If you want to earn cryptocurrency while streaming or watching, Odysee might be worth a try.
As with any other site, you’ll need a valid email address to sign up for Odysee, and once you’ve fully registered, you’ll receive a silver coin or LBRY to get started.
Clicking through the site will bring you more small winnings to get started, which you can use as Twitch Coins for creators, or as mentioned to withdraw the money yourself.
